Srinagar: Three Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants carried out Kulgam attack on a local bank cash van in which five policemen and two bank guards were killed on Monday, police said in a statement.
“Umar Majid of Souch and two others attacked the cash delivery vehicle of J&K bank at Pumbai,” the statement added.
The police identified the slain policemen as: ASI Bashir Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Gani Dar resident of Bonigam, Qazigund; Farooq Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Aziz Bhat resident of Nehama, D.H Pora; Mohammad Qasim son of Abdul Bohu Khan resident of Awoora, Trehgam, Kupwara; Muzaffer Ahmad son of Gul Mohammad Bhat resident of Y.K Pora, Qazigund; Ishfaq Ahmad Hajam son of Abdul Ahad Hajam resident of Zakoora, Batpora, Srinagar.
Two security guards working with J&K Bank were identified as Javaid Ahmad Bhat resident of Vessu, Batpora Kulgam, and Muzaffer Ahmad Laway resident of Larnoo, D.H Pora, Kulgam.
Inspector General Police SJM Gillani lead the wreath-laying ceremony at DPL Kulgam, the statement added.
