65 people injured in police action in Pulwama

Srinagar, June 22: At least 65 people were injured in Kakapora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district today after three local Lashkar-e-Toiba militants and one civilian were killed by government forces in an encounter.

According to reports, three Lashkar militants, two belonging to Kakapora and one to Padgampora area of Awantipora, were killed in an encounter which started on Wednesday evening.

Thousands of people, especially youth, joined the funeral procession of the slain militants and later on clashed with the government forces who resorted to tear gas shells at the protesters.

A civilian identified as Tawseef Ahmad Wani was also killed in the police action.
