Srinagar: Army allegedly thrashed a number of civilians in Okay village of Kulgam in south Kashmir after the male villagers were asked to assemble in a cricket ground early Monday.
However, the women came out of their houses and protested against the alleged thrashing of the civilians, reports said.
Locals said that army resorted to aerial firing to disperse the women protestors.
Sources said that the army had launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the village and to ensure the operation is conducted smoothly, the male population of the village were made to assemble at the stadium.
