Baramulla: Police detain 5 students, retain their phones for ‘forensic analysis’

Srinagar: Police Monday detained five students of Boys Higher Secondary School, Baramulla during clashes outside the school campus. 

Many students of the school “disturbed the studies of other students” and “began pelting stones and bricks towards the main road from the school campus”, police said in a statement.

“After hectic efforts situation was brought under control and the whole group of students indulging in violence was detained,” the statement said, adding that except for five students, all were released and handed over to parents after being counselled by police officers.

“Parents of these five students have been asked to come to Police Station Baramulla tomorrow to take their wards home,” the statement added.

The mobile phones of all these students have been retained by police for forensic analysis, the statement added.

All colleges and schools will remain open tomorrow in Baramulla, the statement added.
