Batamaloo goes to dogs, residents crave for good roads

Srinagar: Srinagar’s Batamaloo area has long been deprived of good roads despite important government establishments situated at its periphery, local residents said on Tuesday, demanding that the government must repair the roads sooner than later. 

A local resident, Fayaz Ahmad Khan, said that despite housing important government offices like District Fund Office, Police Control Room, Accountant General’s Office, Kashmir Haat, New Secretariat, Fire and Emergency Services, District Police Lines, High Court Complex at its peripheries, the area has always been neglected in terms of developmental works.

He said that all the interior roads are badly damaged and need immediate repairing.

“An interlinked road passing through old Khadi Mill area in Shah Faisal Abad, Batamaloo is in shambles,” he said. (See picture above)

A small lane connecting two localities of Batamaloo, Firdous Abad and Bonpora, remains waterlogged just by a mere drizzle, said another local. (See picture below)

Locals say this connecting lane of Firdous Abad and Bonpora saves them a lot of time, But unfortunately, they say, it rains waterlogged most of the time

The locals also said that uneven manholes in the middle of Firdous Abad road pose threat to life and immediate steps must be taken to level them with the road surface.
