Srinagar: Another dead body was found today at the gunfight site in Balhama, Khonmoh on Srinagar outskirts where two militants were killed by the government forces on Thursday night.
“From the #Balhama encounter site one more militant body and incriminating materials recovered. The site is being cleared by the BD (bomb disposal) squad,” police said in a tweet.
Earlier, two militants – Rasiq Ahmad of Nowdal, Tral and Shabir Ahmad of Awantipora – were killed in the gunfight that began on Thursday afternoon after militants attacked and injured a policeman guarding a Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anwar Khan in a bid to snatch weapons. A news report had said that the two militants belonged to Zakir Musa-led group Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind which is Al-Qaeda’s Kashmir wing.
A police official told Narrator that the third militant is a Pakistani identified by his nickname Abu Hamas who was earlier associated with Hizbul Mujahideen.
“He had reportedly crossed to the Valley in 2013 and was with Burhan Wani group initially,” the official said who wishes not to be named.
Apparently, Abu Hamas had joined Zakir’s group in November last year.
