Boy,5,critically injured in stone pelting: Police

A 5-year old was critically injured in Pulwama district in stone pelting, police said.

“A minor boy was seriously injured after miscreants pelted stones on vehicles near Pahoo Bridge in Pulwama,” a police officer said, adding some people had blocked the Pulwama-Srinagar road there amid a shutdown call by  the ‘Joint Resistance Leadership’ comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik against braid-chopping incidents in Kashmir.

“The miscreants pelted stones on private as well as commercial vehicles plying on the road in which one minor, identified as Sifti Hyder, son of Reyaz Ahmad Malik of Gangoo Pulwama, about five years old was seriously injured after he was hit by a stone on his head,” a police official said.

“The injured boy was shifted to District Hospital Pulwama for treatment where from he was referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar in critical condition for further treatment,” the official said, adding a police party rushed to the spot and chased away the stone- pelters.
