Budgam village shuts against night raids, arrests

Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed today in Aripanthan village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district against nocturnal raid in the village in which some arrests were made.

At least 11 youth were arrested during these raids and thrashed the villagers, Aripanthan residents allege.

“The forces barged into residential houses in Aripanthan and Hazarpora¬†villages and detained eleven youth,” said a resident.

Meanwhile, a senior police official told a local newspaper Greater Kashmir that ten persons were detained from Aripanthan. “They were sought in a number of stone-pelting cases. These are only chronic stone-pelters and trouble mongers,” he claimed.
