Clashes erupt in Pulwama as thousands attend militant’s funeral

Pulwama: Clashes erupted in main chowk Kakapora, Pulwama in South Kashmir after thousands attended funeral of a local militant who was killed in a brief encounter on Saturday evening.

The youth clashed with the government forces after offering funeral over Rayees Ahmad Dar, a local who recently joined Lashkar-e-T0iba militant outfit.

The forces tried to thwart the flow of the youth who were heading towards martyrs’ graveyard by firing tear-gas shells at them.

The clashes were going on till last reports came.

The locals also announced that there will be complete shutdown in entire district for four days in the wake of the killing of the slain youth.

“Whether hurriyat will announce a hartal or deel, we will observe complete shutdown for  four days,” a local elder told the funeral gathering earlier.
