Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Bashir Ahmad Khan late Monday evening confirmed the reopening of educational institutes in the Valley tomorrow.
“Schools will remain open from Tuesday. In a review meeting, we decided that all government schools, higher secondary institutions and colleges in the valley will remain open tomorrow,” the Div com was qutoed as saying by a local news agency.
Schools in Srinagar and some areas of south Kashmir were closed on Monday after the killing of three militants in an encounter in Anantnag area. One of the slain militants belonged to the city.
“Schools will remain open from Tuesday. As per situation concerned Deputy Commissioners will take a call whether schools need to be closed in any area or not. But from our side orders are clear to keep schools open,” the Director School Education, Kashmir G N Itoo said.
