CPJ demands release of Kashmiri photojournalist

The Committee to Protect Journalists( CPJ)  has demanded immediate release of Kashmiri photojournalist Kamran Yousuf arrested by the National Investigation Agency and charged with sedition and waging war against India.

Kamran Yousuf, a 23-year-old freelance photojournalist and regular contributor to Kashmir’s prominent English daily Greater Kashmir, is in custody since September 5.

“Indian authorities must stop abusing their power and using heavy-handed tactics to go after a photojournalist who was merely doing his job,” said CPJ Asia Program Coordinator Steven Butler, in Washington, D.C. “Kamran Yousuf has already unjustly spent four months in jail and should be released immediately.”
