DeM chief, close aide booked under PSA, shifted to Kotbhalwal jail

Srinagar: Incarcerated chairperson of Dukhtar-e-Millat (DeM) Aasiyeh Andrabi and her close aide Fahmeeda Sofi were booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) on Monday.

DeM’s spokesperson Nahida Nasreen said that Aasiyeh and Fahmeeda were booked under PSA and the police were about to shift the duo to Kotbhalwal jail in Jammu when this report was filed.

“The duo have been taken to Police Control Room where they will undergo a medical check-up and then they will be shifted to Kotbhalwal jail. This is what we were told,” Nahida said, adding that the DeM chairperson’s health was fast deteriorating.

“She had severe pain in her chest. Earlier, doctors advised her to get hospitalised which was denied by the authorities and she was lodged at Rambagh Women’s police station,” Nahida said, adding that this is not the first time Aasiyeh has been booked under the act.

“Aasiyeh has been booked under this draconian law since 1993 up to this day more than 20 times,” she added.
