Eesa laid to rest, thousands attend funeral

Srinagar: Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of slain militant Mohammad Eesa Fazili, an engineering student, in Ahmednagar area of Soura, Srinagar, who was killed in a gunfight along with two associates in Hakoora village of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district earlier today.

His father, Naeem Fazili, led the funeral prayers.

Youth raised pro-militant, pro-freedom and pro-Zakir Musa slogans during the funeral procession. Fazili’s was buried at Umerhear graveyard in Soura.

Soon after his burial, clashes erupted in the area with protestors throwing stones at the government forces who responded by firing tear gas shells at them.
