Srinagar: Road erosion at Humhama heights on Humhama-Airport road has reduced it to half the size from 24ft to 12ft, inconveniencing locals and causing several accidents, locals said.
“Landslides have reduced the road to half and the government is paying no attention. There is a constant threat of accidents in the area, as the erosion has occurred on the road curve,” a local said, adding that few accidents have already occurred in the past.
The locals also said that the Power Development Department (PDD) has recently erected electric poles in the niche that was created due to erosion.
“They should have waited till the road was repaired and then they should have erected the poles at the end of the road. This way they have reduced the road size permanently,” another local said.
