Expect mild, intermittent rain forecast in next 48 hours: MeT

The Kashmir office of the Meteorological (MeT) Department on Tuesday predicted light, intermittent rain across Kashmir Valley in the next 48 hours.

Director MeT Kashmir Sonum Lotus said that the rainfall will not be continuous like in the past few days. “The rains will lash intermittently and the intensity will be very low,” he said.

He said that parts of Kashmir will receive light rainfall throughout the day on Wednesday.

Lotus said that the massive rainfall last week will not recur.

“Southern parts of Kashmir had received rain for almost 4 consecutive days while the rest of the valley received rain for more than two days,” he said. “We now expect scattered rainfall across the valley. The current spell will not be threatening.”

Lotus said that there is no need to panic, but people should remain alert.

The State government has kept 7 teams of State Disaster Response Force and two teams of National Disaster Response Force ready for rescue and relief. Control rooms have been set up at district and divisional headquarters to meet any eventuality.
