Employees of Community Health Centre (CHC) in Hajin area of Bandipora district struck work and held a protest on Tuesday after the Army allegedly thrashed an ambulance driver as he was returning from Srinagar.
The driver said that he was stopped by Army’s 13 RR unit and accused of ferrying militants in the ambulance. “ I was returning from Srinagar after rushing a youth injured due to pellets to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar when the Army stopped me and took me to their camp. They beat me up, alleging that I was ferrying militants in the ambulance,” the driver said.
Soon after the incident, the ambulance drivers and staff members of CHC Hajin went on strike against the army highhandedness.
Earlier, youth clashed with government forces after the latter launched a cordon and search operation in Parrey Mohalla of Hajin on Tuesday.
