A candlelight vigil was held Sunday at Press Enclave, Srinagar against the rape-murder of Asifa Banu, an 8-year-old girl from Kathua, and carnage in Syria by Bashar al-Assad-led forces.

The protesters demanded justice for Banu and asked international organisations to stop the ongoing carnage in Syria.

Banu was raped and killed in Rasana village of Kathua district on 17 January.

The Crime Branch of police has arrested SPO Deepak Khajuria for his direct involvement in the crime. During the investigation, it was revealed that the minor was raped and killed to instil fear in Gujjar Muslim community of Jammu.
