Indian Sikh Pilgrim converts to Islam, marries Lahore boy

An Indian Sikh pilgrim, who came to Pakistan for Baisakhi celebrations, has converted to Islam and requested visa extension since she does not want to return to her country, reports said.

Kiran Bala wrote an application to the foreign ministry on Wednesday requesting visa extension that ends on 21 April.

In her application, Kiran mentioned that she has willfully converted to Islam and married Muhammad Azam, a resident of Lahore. She also changed her name to Amina Bibi.

She further mentioned that she does not want to return to India as she has received “assassination threats” and for that reason, Kiran (Amina Bibi) requested the ministry to extend her stay in the country.
