Residents of Jablipora area of Anantnag district held a demonstration in Srinagar Saturday to demand removal of an Army camp from a playground. The residents, who were joined by independent legislator Engineer Abdul Rashid, also burnt cricket gear as a mark of protest and raised slogans like ‘Army rule unacceptable’ against the occupation of the playground by Rashtriya Rifles.
Speaking to media, Rashid said the Army has turned Kashmir into a garrison and even playgrounds were not being spared now. He also questioned the Twitter “rhetoric” of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti against the rallies by Hindu Ekta Munch in support of a rape and murder-accused Special Police Officer in Kathua.
