A youth who was injured by the government forces in the first week of April in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal succumbed today at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS).
The youth, identified as Aamir Hameed Lone, 21, of Kangan, was admitted at SKIMS in a serious condition on April 3, succumbed on Sunday morning, the officials said.
“Lone was seriously injured during protests against the killing of another youth, Gowhar Ahmad,” they said.
“The condition of the youth had improved and he was taken off the ventilator. But the youth succumbed today,” a doctor at SKIMS said.
As the news of the death of the youth spread in Kangan, instantaneous protests erupted in the area.
