Kashmir: Forces kill civilian in Budgam

Srinagar: Forces killed an unidentified civilian at airforce station Budgam during the intervening night of 18 February and 19. 

According to a police press note, the individual, “who appears to be mentally challenged” of 50-55 years of age, tried to cross the station fence and didn’t stop even after the forces fired gunshots in air.

“He crossed the security fence and came close to the station perimeter wall. Despite repeated warning from the sentry the individual did not stop. The sentry fired some warning shots in air but the individual did not stop. The sentry fired towards him,” the police said.

They said that the identity of the person is being ascertained as no identity card was found in his clothes.

The police has registered a case, the statement added.
