Srinagar: Government forces killed another civilian during clashes that ensued at a gunfight site in Khudwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam today taking the civilian death toll to three.
The third civilian has been identified as Faisal Illahi, 15, of Sangam area who succumbed at SDH Qaimoh. He had a bullet injury in his body, a local report said.
Earlier, two civilians Sharjeel Ahmad, 26, and Bilal Ahmad, 16, were killed by government forces after locals clashed with them. One soldier was also killed during the exchange of gunfire last night.
Two local Lashkar-e-Toiba militants are believed to be trapped inside a house in Wani Mohalla of Khudwani, Kulgam.
The civilian death toll may rise as 35 locals received injuries during the clashes, local reports said.
Till last reports came, heavy clashes were going on at the encounter site.
