Malik, others shifted to Central Jail

Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and seven other JKLF members were Saturday shifted to Central Jail Srinagar a day after police arrested them during a protest against braid-chopping incidents in Kashmir.

Besides Malik, “JKLF zonal general secretary Sheikh Abdul Rashid, zonal organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Muhammad Azeem Zargar, Basharat Ahmad Butt, Nazir Ahmad of Pulwama, Meraj ud din of Soitaing and Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah who were arrested yesterday while protesting against the growing attacks on Kashmiri women have been shifted to central jail Srinagar on judicial remand,” a JKLF spokesman said.

Terming the arrests as “evident support of so-called rulers to criminals involved in braid- chopping,” the spokesman said that “instead of doing something to apprehend criminals involved in attacks on women, so-called rulers and their police are trying to suppress the voices being raised against these gruesome criminal acts.”
