A “noble person” who returned the missing parrot of a family from Srinagar’s Habba Kadal area has refused a Rs 10,000 reward .
Shabir Ahmad Khan, a resident of Aga Hamam locality of Habba Kadal, had published an advertisement in local newspapers after his family’s pet parrot went “suddenly missing” from their home on September 15. He had also offered a reward of Rs 10,000 for anybody who helped trace the parrot, saying children in the family were so upset at their pet bird having gone missing that they had stopped eating or drinking anything
The parrot was reunited with the Khans after a man from nearby Zaldagar area saw the advertisement and arrived at their home with the bird, according to a local daily.
“We can’t explain how happy we were when a person from Zaldagar informed us that he has traced the parrot. We had been looking for Mithoo day and night. The noble person came to our home and returned Mithoo. He refused to take the reward,” a member of the Khan family was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
The family suspects the bird had lost its way after following a family member out into the street on Friday.
