Massive tear-gas shelling on protestors in Pulwama

Pulwama: Police resorted to massive tear-gas shelling on protestors in Kakapora, Pulwama in South Kashmir after thousands attended the funeral of a local militant on Sunday morning. A number of youth, after attending the funeral, headed towards the main chowk Kakapora and pelted the government forces with stones and rocks.

The slain militant, Rayees Ahmad Dar, 32, who had recently joined Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit, was killed on Saturday evening in a brief encounter, according to the police.

A joint team of police, CRPF and army cordoned off Begum Bagh area of Kakapora in the afternoon after receiving reports about the presence of militants there, police sources said on Saturday.

Sources also said that two militants managed to escape on a motorcycle while Dar was holed up and killed in the evening.
