Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday congratulated Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) over their win in Karnataka assembly elections.
“Hearty congratulations to @BJP4India for their stellar performance in Karnataka. #KarnatakaVerdict,” Mehbooba tweeted.
The BJP touched the halfway mark in leads, ahead in 112 seats as votes are counted in the Karnataka assembly elections, and has declared it will need no support to form the next government in the state.
BS Yeddyurappa, the BJP’s presumptive chief minister, will fly to Delhi today at 3pm to meet the party’s top leadership.
The Congress has fallen way behind, leading in only 70 seats, while the Janata Dal Secular is ahead in 38 of the state’s 224 assembly seats. Voting was held in 222 seats and a party needs to win 112 seats for a majority.
“There is no question of an alliance (with the Janata Dal Secular) as we are already crossing 112 seats,” said the BJP’s Sadananda Gowda.
