Mian Qayoom re-elected president of lawyers body

Advocate Mian Qayoom was Thursday re-elected as the president of Kashmir High Court Bar Association, defeating Advocate Nazir Ronga by a margin of over 200 votes.

Mushtaq Ahmad Dar defeated Mohammad Ashraf Bhat for the post of Vice President while  Sameer Wani was elected as Treasurer by defeating Zahoor Ahmad Bhat. Ghulam Nabi Shaheen became General Secretary by defeating Shabir Ahmad Bhat.

A total of 12 candidates were in fray for various posts of the lawyers’ body.
The elections  scheduled to be held on September 7  were deferred in view of National Investigation Agency’s  notice to Qayoom .

A prominent High Court lawyer, Mian Qayoom  has held the post of the Kashmir Bar Association president since 1986.
