Srinagar: A volley of bullets were fired in the air as a form of gun salute in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district at the funeral of Lashkar-e-Toiba(LeT) militant commander Fayaz Ahmad alias Setha on Sunday.
Fayaz was killed during a shootout between police and militants at Mirbazar area of Anantnag district Saturday evening. One policeman and three civilians were also killed in the shootout.
According to reports, Ahmed had been on the run since August 2015 after his name cropped up in the Udhampur attack case.
The LeT commander carried a cash reward of Rs two lakh on his head and had been charge-sheeted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the Udhampur terror strike case, reports added.
