Pulwama, Kakapora: A National Conference sarpanch resigned on Sunday morning at a local militant’s funeral at Kakapora, Pulwama in South Kashmir. Fayaz Ahmad Dar offered his resignation and “repented for his previous sins” at the funeral of Rayees Ahmad Dar, who was killed by the government forces on Saturday evening.
“I hereby resign from being the sarpanch of this village and repent for all my previous sins. I will never rejoin any political party,” Dar, who is also maternal uncle of the slain militant, told the funeral gathering.
Rayees, an engineering student, had recently joined the militant ranks and was believed to belong to Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit.
