NIA summons KU scholar to Delhi

National Investigation Agency (NIA) has summoned a Kashmir University scholar to its New Delhi headquarters  even as traders bodies and transporters called for a shutdown on September 25 against the summoning of  Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) chairperson Mohammad Yasin Khan by the agency.

Reports said cops from Nigeen police station served the NIA notice to Fazili’s department on Friday.

Fazli, a PhD scholar, has sought leave in order to appear before NIA, Head of the Department Pharmaceutical Sciences Prof Zulfiqar Ali told a local newspaper.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had on Friday summoned the chairperson of Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) Mohammad Yasin Khan to its headquarters in New Delhi.

Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, traders and transporters bodies called for a shutdown on September 25 against the NIA notice to Khan.

Seven Hurriyat Conference leaders, a top businessman, a photojournalist and a farmer have been so far arrested in a case filed by the NIA regarding alleged funding for “subversive activities in J&K” on May 30.

The NIA has raided various places in Jammu and Kashmir and questioned several persons in the case.
