Srinagar: School and college students clashed with police forces in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday in which seven students were detained by the police.
Eyewitnesses said that students of Boys higher secondary school and Degree college Tral engaged police in pitched battles in Tral. During these clashes, police caught hold of seven youth and took them along with, they added.
There was a spontaneous shutdown in the entire area, reports suggested.
Student protests have become the new norm of the resistance movement in the Valley since April 15 when government forces launched a crackdown on Pulwama degree college students in which more than 50 students were injured.
The student protests spread from south Kashmir to north Kashmir’s Handwara area where more than 40 students, including girls, were injured on Saturday in day-long clashes between students and police.
