
Srinagar: A civilian who tried to save rebels holed up in a residential house in Drabgam village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district was killed on Monday by government forces. At least fifteen others were injured in clashes that ensued near the gunfight site.
The deceased was identified as Shahid Ashraf Dar, 18, a resident of Arihal village of Pulwama.
Two locals militants Sameer Ahmad alias Sameer Tiger and Aqib Khan were also killed in the same gunfight.
Ahmad was injured near the gunfight site, eyewitnesses said. Though he was rushed to the district hospital, he succumbed on the way.
Two army men, including a major, have also been injured in the gunfight.
