Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh (RKM), a conglomerate of 132 farmer organisations of India, started their Kisan adhikar Yatra from Handwara today to press for their demands. The conglomerate said that they shall do the march from “Kashmir to Kanyakumari” to highlight the plight of the farmers.
In this connection, J&K Zamindar Bachao Forum (Part of Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh) organized a Farmers Convention atEnvironment Hall, Handwara today.
RKM said that they have the following demands:
1). Complete Loan waiver for Farmers.
2). MSP of all Crops should be C2 input Cost + 50% according to Swaminathan Commission Report.
3). MSP should be declared for Milk, Vegetables, Fruits and all Crops.
4). Minimum Pension Should be given to Farmers.
Senior Farmer Leaders Shiv Kumar Kakkaji, Gurnam Singh ji, Jagjeet Singh ji, Hamid Malik ji, Abhimanyu Kohar addressed the Convention.
Kakkaji said that farmers of rest of India will stand with farmers of Kashmir and will fight for their legitimate rights in a non-violent manner. He further said that we will look after all the son and daughter of Kashmiri farmers who are studying in other states of India.
Gurnam Singh said that farmers have made our country self-sufficient in field of Food-Grains, Vegetables and Fruits but Farmers are not getting proper MSP on their Crops.
Jagjeet Singh said that we all are fighting for our legitimate rights and we are fighting for next generation of farmers.
Abhimanyu Kohar said that Farmers are under debt due to wrong policies of consecutive Governments. If Govt’s had fulfilled their promised and implemented Swaminathan report then farmers would have been under no debt at this point of time. He further said that central govt has not included Apple in the list of 23 Crops whose MSP is declared, this is injustice with Kashmiri Farmers.
