People should come forward to help pellet victims who are in dire need of medical and financial assistance, speakers said at a seminar held in Srinagar on Sunday.
The seminar titled “Role Of Youth In Kashmir Issue” was organised by J&K Youth Civil Society (JKYCS) and attended by a large number of people members of JK Pellet victims Association led by president Muhammad Ashraf Wani. Other speakers included Muhammad Ashraf Bhat, former General Secretary of High Court Bar Association, Shabir Ahmad Dar, Chairman JK Muslim Conference, Hakim Abdul Rashid, Chairman Democratic Muslim League, Bilal Ahmad Bhat Chairman JKYCS.
The speakers rued the neglect of “kiths and kins of the martyrs or the injured people by the society and the leadership,” according to a statement issued by the organizers.
Bhat said efforts were underway to ensure people can help pellet victims directly.
The speakers also hailed the “sacrifices offered by the youth of J&K right from 1947 especially during 2008, 2010 and 2016 uprisings,” the statement said.
Tributes were also paid to pro-freedom activist Professor Sheikh who spent years in different jails on his eight death anniversary.
