Srinagar: Government forces today resorted to heavy tear gas shelling on mourners who had assembled in a school ground in Dalipora of south Kashmir’s Pulwama to offer the funeral prayers of slain Hizbul Mujahideen militant Mussavir Wani.
Wani was killed yesterday in Kangan area of the same district.
Eyewitnesses told Narrator that thousands of people had gathered at the funeral of Wani despite restrictions laid down by the authorities.
“Children and women also participated in the funeral. This heartless government doesn’t even allow us to mourn our dead,” a local said.
A local report said that the graveyard where Wani is to be buried has been turned into a garrison.
