A teenage boy was killed Wednesday in forces firing near the site of an encounter in Shopian district, reports quoting official sources said.
Clashes erupted soon after a gunfight between militants and government forces broke out in Chaigund area on Wednesday evening. Quoting official sources, a local news agency GNS reported that two teenage boys sustained injuries after police and paramilitary forces fired teargas shells, pellet guns and bullets to disperse the protestors.
Both the injured were rushed to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Rajpora where one of them identified as Shakir Ahmad Mir (17) of Qalampora was declared brought dead.
Javeed Ahmad Bhat, Block Medical Officer PHC Rajpora who operated upon the boy confirmed that he was declared brought dead on arrival.
“Shakir (had) received a bullet wound in his chest and as such succumbed”, Dr Javeed was quoted as saying.
