Shut down continues in Shopian against ‘mysterious disappearance’ of local youth

Srinagar: Shutdown continues in Shopian town for the second consecutive day against what locals say the mysterious disappearance of a local youth from police custody on May 1.

According to locals, Zubair Ahmad Turray was detained by the police in 2015 under Public Safety Act for alleged involvement in stone pelting. However, the police claimed that Zubair fled from its custody on May 1 and since then there are no whereabouts of him.

Superintendent police Shopian Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar told Narrator that the police is in constant touch with the family of the youth.

“The family of the youth have to cooperate with us to trace him out,” Dinkar added.
