Students protest in Anantnag, Budgam against forces’ ‘high-handedness’

Srinagar: Students clashed with government forces in two districts of the Valley on Thursday morning against their alleged high-handedness while foiling peaceful student protest marches since April 15.

Reports said that students of degree college Magam, Budgam clashed with police after the latter foiled their protest march by firing tear gas shells at them.

Students alleged that the forces lobbed tear gas shells inside the college premises.

In south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, a minor stone pelting incident occurred when an army convoy was passing through through the district, reports said.

Locals said that the army beat up some school children in retaliation, triggering more protests in the Dooru area of Anantnag.

Shopkeepers downed their shutters after the incident. Till last reports came, protests were going on in the area.
