Traffic diversions on Saturday for Adnan Sami concert

Authorities announced traffic diversions in the city for Saturday as part of “elaborate arrangements” for the Adnan Sami concert on the banks of Dal lake.

A government spokesman said that since “large number of people including senior government functionaries” are expected to attend the concert at SKICC, Srinagar, Traffic Police has made “elaborate traffic arrangements enroute from Ram Munshibagh, Badyari Chowk up to Pandach, Nigeen via Fore Shore Road to avoid traffic jam.”

“The following diversions will remain in force on October 7, from 4:00 pm up to the conclusion of the event: All types of vehicles except invitees shall be diverted at Ram Munshi-Bagh towards Dalgate. All sort of vehicular movement except tourist vehicles shall be diverted at Badyari Chowk towards Khanyar to reach to their destinations. The tourist vehicles/residents shall only be allowed to ply upto Nehru Park only,” the spokesman said.

“No vehicle except that of invitees shall be allowed to move from Grand Lalit Boulevard Road towards SKICC.          All the passenger / LMV vehicles shall be diverted at Nishat via Foreshore Road towards Hazratbal. All type of vehicles coming from Zakoora-Pandach and Hazratbal shall adopt Rainawari route towards Lal Chowk,” the spokesman said.

Vehicles going towards Duck Park, Shalimar Crossing and Tailbal Crossing and its adjacent areas shall be allowed to ply towards Nishat via Foreshore Road.

Residents of Shalimar, Nishat, Harwan and its adjacent areas “are requested to adopt Badyari Chowk, Rainawari, Hazratbal, Foreshore route and avoid travelling after 4: 00 pm till the conclusion of the event,” the spokesman said.

The concert has been organised by India’s Home Ministry and the Jammu and Kashmir government to “promote tourism and Kashmiri culture.”

“Kashmir is not only about violence. It is a lively place with full of culture, music, art and tourism. We want to send this message through the concert,” Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said Wednesday .
