Trump’s ascendency to Presidency not good for Kashmir struggle: Qasim

Srinagar: Incarcerated pro-freedom leader and Chairman Muslim Deeni Mahaz Dr Muhammad Qasim today said that Donald Trump’s ascendency to the most powerful position in the United States “will impact the Kashmir struggle” in a negative way, a statement issued by his party here said.

Qasim said that Trump will “lobby to trash 50-year-old UN resolutions” and India is working on this proposal, the statement added.

He also said that the near-future repercussions of Trump’s victory will be that Pakistan will be pressurised “to stop its support to the Kashmir struggle”.

“The existence of Daesh (the so-called Islamic State) may be proved in Kashmir, thus linking the freedom struggle of Kashmir to the global terror scenario so that full support of the US is garnered to crush this movement,” the statement quoted the incarcerated leader.
