Two soldiers killed in Pak firing along LoC in Poonch

Srinagar: An army Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and a Border Security Force (BSF) Head Constable were killed on Monday in firing by Pakistani troops on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Pakistan Army resorted to “unprovoked” firing in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district at 8.30 am, Defence Ministry sources told a news gathering agency.

Rockets and automatics were used to target Indian positions, the news agency said in a report.

“A BSF (Border Security Force) Head Constable, identified as Head Constable Prem Sagar and an Army soldier were killed in the ceasefire violation,” an officer told the news agency.

“Indian troops effectively retaliated and firing exchanges are going on between the two sides,” the officer was quoted by the agency as saying.
