Srinagar: Valley markets were abuzz with activity since Saturday morning in the wake of full-day relaxation by the pro-freedom camp in their recent protest ‘calendar’. School children were seen to head towards schools and public transport hit the roads for the first time since 8 July. There were also reports of traffic jams at various places.
The pro-freedom camp in their weekly protest ‘calendar’ has asked people to use public transport on 19 and 20 Nov and has for the first time in the four-month agitation given a full-day relaxation on Saturday and Sunday.
“People are requested to use exclusively public transport on these days for the support of transport community. As a social and community responsibility, encourage your family and friends as well for the same,” the recent protest ‘calendar’ said, adding that all vehicles should hoist black flags as a mark of protest.
However, some pro-freedom leaders “held reservations” for giving a full-day relaxation during the current phase of agitation.
