Srinagar: Late Dr Muhammad Ayyub Thakur’s political and think tank organisations: World Kashmir Freedom Movement (WKFM) and The Justice Foundation were reactivated yesterday in London by his son Muzammil Ayyub Thakur, a press release mailed to Kashmir Narrator said.
“We feel that it is crucial for WKFM to reactivate, due to the criminal silence adopted by the international community over the gruesome atrocities committed on the people of Jammu & Kashmir by the Indian Armed Forces. We are and we will remain committed towards the vision and mission of the founder,” Muzammil Ayyub Thakur, president of the twin organisations, said.
Dr Muhammad Ayyub Thakur, born in Shopian district of Kashmir Valley, raised the Kashmir issue in United Kingdom and other parts of the world to garner support for a peaceful solution to this lingering conflict.
“Dr Muhammad Ayyub Thakur stood for Freedom, Justice, Peace, Liberty, Rights and Security of the people of Jammu & Kashmir through his organisations WKFM and Justice Foundation,” the statement added.
“At the time of his sad demise I was too young and not in a position to don Dr Muhammad Ayyub Thakur’s (my father’s) role, within both of my father’s organisations. I spent this period in gaining both experience and wisdom as how to carry forward Dr Muhammad Ayyub Thakur’s legacy in terms of the Kashmir Movement,” the statement quoted Muzammil Ayyub Thakur to have said, adding that he intend to carry forward the Kashmir Movement through Dr Muhammad Ayyub Thakur’s legacy.
“WKFM is an umbrella organisation of groups working for the cause of Kashmir at international level. In order to achieve its objectives, WKFM will use all peaceful, moral and political means within the framework of international legality,” the statement added.
“Justice Foundation: The Justice Foundation is as an academic institution working as a think tank, conducting research, publishing reports and various printed materials for Kashmir. Justice Foundation will hold seminars and conferences on the subject of conflict in Kashmir and its peaceful resolution.”
