Woman injured as India, Pak trade fire along LoC in Tangdhar

A woman sustained injuries after India and Pakistan exchanged heavy firing in north Kashmir’s Tanghdar Sector of Kupwara district along the Line of Control (LoC) last night, reports said.

A senior police officer said that Pakistani troops targeted Indian posts of army’s 20 JAT at Tad along the LoC in Tanghdar at 11:00 pm on Thursday.

“The fire was retaliated and continued intermittently till 4:30 am,” he said.

During the clash, few shells landed near the civilian population resulting in injuries to a woman, the officer said.

He identified the injured as Noor Jahan wife of Ghulam Hassan and has been hospitalized.

Meanwhile, Army’s Kupwara based spokesperson confirmed the incident.

“Unprovoked ceasefire violation initiated by Pakistan posts in Tanghdar sector. Own troops have retaliated appropriatey”, the spokesperson added.
