Srinagar: At least two special police officers (SPOs) were injured in a mysterious incident of firing on a police post in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, media reports said.

Reports said that the post, located in the mountainous Tanta area of the district, came under attack at 2 am, leaving both the on-duty SPOs seriously injured.

Ruling out the militant attack, a senior police officer said that additional police and army personnel have been rushed to the area to deal with the situation, the report added.

“10-12 gun shots were heard from the STF Post Tanta. One of the injured SPOs has received a bullet in his neck and the other in his abdomen,” the officer was quoted by a report as saying.
