Srinagar: Major Leetul Gogoi, who was caught today with a “minor girl” in a Srinagar hotel by staffers and “thrashed”, according to local reports, may face “serious action” at the hands of Army.
Senior journalist Ahmed Ali Fayyaz, who earlier in the day broke the news of Major being “caught in comprising position with a woman, at Mamta Hotel Dalgate and arrested by Police Station Khanyar”, tweeted that “Army is initiating serious action against him and his CO”.

The Major had booked the hotel room through online booking and had claimed to be “travelling for business”.
Major Gogoi shot to infamy last year when he used a Kashmiri, Farooq Ahmad Dar, as a human shield in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
The Delhi government, later on, gave Gogoi an honorary award by the army for his “sustained valour” in “counterinsurgency efforts.”
The police, however, have constituted a committee to probe the incident.
