Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chairperson Aasiyeh Andrabi was on Friday placed under detention at her residence in Srinagar.
Sofi Fehmeeda, Andrabi’s close aide, said that a large contingent of police surrounded the residence of DeM chief around 8 pm today and placed her under house detention.
Condemning the detention, Fehmeeda said that the move reflects the “frustration” of the authorities.
She said that such acts, however, won’t deter the party chairperson or the party cadres from pursuing the “struggle for freedom”.
The house detention came in the wake of a call given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik for observing a shutdown against civilian killings tomorrow.
