Srinagar: Kashmir Air Services (KAS), a private company, said Friday that it will start air services covering the pan-J&K terrain in 2018.
“KAS has thus enabled itself to be considered the pioneer in conceiving and effectuating this pan-J&K air connectivity service. This service is not only on the wish list of the local populace but also the visiting tourists who want to explore Jammu and Kashmir in a time efficient manner. Kashmir Air Services is accordingly gaining the strategic first mover advantage of starting this wide footprint air service in J&K,” a statement issued by the company said.
The statement added that the company has done the ground work to start the said air services and has selected key professionals with vast experience in airlines/aviation to manage the operations of the service.
“The process of obtaining requisite government / DGCA approvals has since started. The process of selection of helicopters has also started in parallel with a view to synchronize their induction with securing of requisite government approvals to the extent possible,” the statement added.
Initially Kashmir Air Services, the statement said, will induct six right fit helicopters to implement its plans to operate air services between Srinagar-Gulmarg (including heli-skiing), Srinagar-Pahalgam, Srinagar-Sonamarg (including heli-skiing), Local Srinagar aerial sightseeing, Srinagar-Tangdar, Srinagar-Kargil, Srinagar-Drass, Srinagar- Amarnnath and Srinagar-Uri.
“A few helicopters will also be configurable to act as Air ambulance to meet medical emergencies arising around these prospective air connected areas. Charter helicopter air service will also be catered to by Kashmir Air Services. Other viable locations including that of traffic intensive Mata Vaishno Devi will be added in ensuing phase(s),” the statement said.
