MUZAFFARABAD: The lawyer community will observe strike on Saturday in Pakistan-administered Kashmir to protest against the brutal rape and murder of a minor girl in Kathua.
The announcement was made at the emergency meeting of PaK Supreme Court Bar Association held here on Friday.
In a statement, Secretary General of the Bar Association, Mian Sultan Mahmood, said protest demonstrations will be held in all district and tehsil headquarters of PaK by lawyers.
He termed the Kathua rape and murder a crime against humanity and added the lawyers would stay away from courts proceedings to protest this heinous crime and to express solidarity with the aggrieved family of minor girl and other victims.
He said it was a “clear manifestation of the failure of the Indian government to protect lives and properties of Kashmiri people.”
The SC Bar observed that the Kashmir is “perhaps only part of the world where vulnerable segments of society like women and children were not safe from heinous crimes and State is seems to be collaborator with the criminals.”
The Bar demanded that the civilized world must exert pressure on India to make sure arrest of the culprits involved in the Kathua rape and murder and other crimes and bring them to justice by awarding them exemplary punishment.
