Major Litul Gogoi, the army man who tied a civilian to his jeep as a human shield, was caught in a compromising position with a woman at a hotel in Dalgate area on Wednesday.

Senior journalist Ahmed Ali Fayyaz broke the news on twitter.

BIG BREAKING: Maj Litul Gogoi, who paraded a civilian Farooq Ahmed Dar of Chill Brass Beerwah on bonnet of his vehicle on 9/4/2017, was just now caught in comprising position with a woman, at Mamta Hotel Dalgate and arrested by Police Station Khanyar.

He wrote: “BIG BREAKING: Maj Litul Gogoi, who paraded a civilian Farooq Ahmed Dar of Chill Brass Beerwah on bonnet of his vehicle on 9/4/2017, was just now caught in comprising position with a woman, at Mamta Hotel Dalgate and arrested by Police Station Khanyar (sic).”

Local reports said that Major Gogoi has been taken into custody by Khanyar police station.

Major Gogoi paraded a civilian, Farooq Dar, of Chill Brass Beerwah, on bonnet of his vehicle on April 9 last year.

Farooq, was paraded on the bonnet of army vehicle, after he had cast his vote in the parliamentary election.

Police said that Police Station Khanyar received a call at 11 am from Hotel Grand Mamta that an altercation has taken place at the hotel.

“Accordingly a police party was deputed to the hotel, and it surfaced that a one woman (name withheld) and person namely Sameer Ahmed of Budgam had come to see some person. But the hotel receptions did not allow them to meet theperson. Meanwhile police party reached the spot and got all the persons to the police Station,” the police said.

“Subsequently it was learnt the that the woman had come to meet an army officer. The identity and particulars of the army officer has been collected by the police as well.The officials were handed over to their unit after due recording their statements. The statement of woman is also being recorded for probing the matter.”
